Participate in the Rochester Regional Health Flower City Challenge!

Get moving with this two-day race event!

On April 21st and April 22nd, the city of Rochester will host its Regional Health Flower City Challenge. This event spans two days, with the River Challenge Duathlon and Triathlon events taking place on the 21st and the Half-Marathon and Wegmans’s Family 5K taking place on the 22nd.

River Challenge Duathlon/Triathlon

Both the Duathlon and Triathlon events will take place at the Genesse Waterways Center in Genesse Valley Park (149 Elmwood Avenue; Rochester, New York 14611). The gates will open at 6:00 am and informational packet pick-up will take place from 6:00 am – 7:15 am. Both races are set to begin at 7:30 am.

  • The Duathlon is a race that consists of a 5K run, 20-mile bike ride, and capped with another 5K run. Please note that this event is open for relay teams. You can find relay information here.
  • The Triathlon consists of a 5K run, 20-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile kayak paddle. Kayak rentals will be available through Genesse Waterways. If you would like to reserve a boat for the race beforehand, please contact the center at (585) 328-3960. You are also free to use your own kayak during the race. Lifejackets are required for the paddle portion of the race. This event is also open to teams; you can find more information here.

Rochester Regional Health Flower City Half-Marathon and Wegman’s Family 5K

On Sunday April 22nd, both the half-marathon and the 5K will begin at War Memorial (Blue Cross Arena) at One War Memorial Square; Rochester, NY 14614.

  • For the half-marathon, informational packet pick-up will begin at 6:00 am with the race starting at 7:30 am. The half-marathon will take participants through city streets, historic areas, and scenic neighborhoods, eventually ending at 100 Exchange Blvd, Rochester, NY 14614. The race is certified accurate by USA Track & Field. Click here for the course map.
  • Informational packet pick-up for the 5K will begin at 6:00 am with the race starting at 7:45 am. This race is certified by the USATF. You can find course details here.
